Hybrid Technology; UK Co. Builds Next Generation Hybrid Sports Coupe
Connaught Motor Co. Ltd. announced yesterday that it has achieved significant new investment for the production of its breakthrough Type D V-10 Hybrid Sports Coupe. Connaught also plans to license their hybrid technology for use in other mass-market vehicle models beginning in 2006.
Connaught Motor Co President and CEO Tony Martindale also re-affirmed Connaught's plan to launch the first series of its Type D, in a Non-Hybrid version GT car, by the end of 2005.
"Through innovation, we are challenging ourselves to make the cars of today and tomorrow cleaner and more efficient, without compromising range or performance. "This will give real meaning to the words 'Powered by Connaught'“, said Martindale.
Connaught became the first British automaker to offer a petrol-electric hybrid vehicle for production, and is on track to begin delivery of its first production vehicles in early 2007.
Martindale also announced that in several months Connaught will apply its hybrid technology to the company's new "Next Generation Series" of lightweight, compact, taxis and light-utility vehicles.
Connaught is committed to advancing its Hybrid/Internal Combustion Engine technology even as the company works on alternative fuel technologies, such as compressed gas/hybrid vehicles. "In this way, we will continue to provide our customers with the economy, safety and performance they have enjoyed in the past, while creating a better future for the environment and society," he said.
